The project for the Mother Theresa of Calcutta Park (36,041 smq) located in the eastern suburban area of Rome, offers the opportunity to improve the existing neighbourhood’s facilities (kindergarten, church, middle school, sports area) near the park.
The park today suffers the lack of maintenance and most of all the absence of activities thought for teenagers. Also the closed streets on both sides of its borders contribute to produce insecurity and discomfort. Also many anonymous entrances are scattered all around and no criteria neither seem to have the pathways.
The proposal’s aim is to introduce a coherent organisation of the spaces clearly identifying the different zones and it foresees: a restyling of the entrances; activities for teens such as a skate park, a basket ground and a free climbing gym; a restyling of the existing rotunda’s; a new fencing with applied decorations; a kiosk with a café as a new meeting point and useful also for the maintenance of the green area; a new visual focus covering with blooming bushes the kindergarten’s slopes around the hill within the park.
